You will note that we are asking for TWO members to help with General Duties and hopefully everybody will be able to carry out this requirement.

NB.  The Commissaires have requested that only members who are actively involved in racing should be asked to help as with their knowledge of racing they will be better able to keep an eye out for any indiscretions, etc and report same to the Chief Commissaire by radio.

Racing at Murarrie will take place each Saturday morning as usual, commencing at 6.45 am. Please report for duty no later than 6.25 am.

ROSTER

A Roster has been drawn up - as above - for the regular Saturday morning races at Murarrie. We look forward to your involvement.

Three people are allocated to each date to assist the regulars – one of whom is the First  Aid officer, Duties are as follows:

   1.       Prepare the track for racing, i.e. sweeping corners, checking for glass, sticks etc.

  2.       Manning one of the corners on the western side of the track.

You will have a radio so that you can communicate with the race officials

in case of accident, or if you need assistance.

  3.       Generally assist with the running of the races.

If you are unable to carry out your roster duties on the date requested, please contact the Racing Secretary, Gavin Smith 0407 250 771 or 3345 1912

We appreciate your help, and so do the entrants.

About Balmoral

Balmoral Cycling club was started in 1946,initially with road racing and then using a track at Hawthorne Park. Until the construction of the Chandler complex this was the hub of track cycling in Brisbane. In 1996 the Club moved when the criterium track in Murarrie was constructed.

The Club has produced a number of road and track champions at State, National, and World titles, and at Commonwealth Games level.

Club members are issued with a license which includes affiliation with the Australian Cycling Federation and Queensland Cycling Association. Membership offers a number of benefits such as participation in racing, social rides, insurance cover, and access to training programs.

Racing at Murarrie

Criterium racing is conducted every Saturday morning at the clubs safe off road venue at Murarrie. This very popular form of road cycling is open to all club members and visitors. The 'Saturday morning Crits' are an established feature of the Brisbane cycling landscape. Racing is divided into categories according to licence classification, past results at Murarrie, and at the discretion of the race organisers.

Prize money is awarded to the first 4 place getters in each category, as well as for primes during the race.
